Heston fire station has received an additional fire engine to improve response times to fires and incidents in Hounslow and the surrounding area.
The additional vehicle, which arrived on Wednesday, 11 June, will also mean more firefighters will be based at the station to cover the four watch system.
The move follows a decision by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority in March 2005 to move ten fire engines to fire stations that need them more in order to improve overall response times across the capital. Once the moves are completed there will be significant improvements in the arrival times of second fire engines to incidents right across London.
Hounslow Borough Commander Gerard Hollingworth said: “As well as helping to ensure the safety of our residents in Hounslow and the surrounding area these extra resources will increase the amount of community safety work our firefighters can carry out in the borough to prevent incidents happening in the first place.
“We are always available for advice and information and anyone wishing to receive a free home fire safety visit should call 08000 28 44 28.”
