Be part of the action at 150th anniversary Safe in the City event

As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations we are giving our Facebook followers the chance to take part in a real live firefighter rescue at our Safe in the City event, supported by Securitas, later this month.

The winner will be 'rescued' from a simulated car crash at our Safe in the City event on Saturday 20 August.

We will be providing all the safety gear and our crews will work around the winner to cut them free from the wreckage.

This is a once in a life time chance to get right up close to the action and see our highly trained crews at work in a controlled environment.

To enter all you have to do is visit our Facebook page and like our competition post before 4pm on 5 August 2016.

The competition winner must be available for a training day at Hillingdon Fire Station on Friday,12 August, where you will also get the chance to meet our firefighters and have a look behind the scenes.

Safe in the city

Safe in the City is our biggest ever family fun day and is being held on Saturday, 20 August at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park next to the Imperial War Museum. 

It will feature live rescues and demonstrations, historical re-enactments, fire dogs, fire engines and children's activities, a barbecue cook off and much, much more. And best of all it's totally free!

Please read these competition rules carefully, if you enter one of our competitions you will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules.

1. To enter

By submitting their entry entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules.

Entrants must have clicked ‘like’ on the related competition post on London Fire Brigade’s Facebook page by 4pm Friday, 5 August 2016. Entries will not be accepted after this time. 

The LFEPA cannot take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered or recorded.

2. Winning entrant

The winning entrant will be the entrant selected at random by using the fan page karma selector (http://www.fanpagekarma.com/facebook-promotion).

If you win the competition, we will notify you by Facebook. If we cannot contact you or you do not respond within 48 hours of the Entry Date, we reserve the right to offer the prize to another competition entrant.

The winning entrant will be announced in a post on London Fire Brigade's Facebook page as soon as reasonably practicable after the closing date.

3. Eligibility

The competition is open to all United Kingdom residents aged 18 or over on or before the Entry Date. If required, the winning entrant must provide valid proof of age by Friday, 12 August.

Entrants must not have any medical condition, which in LFEPA's sole opinion, would prevent them taking part in the prize or increase the risk to themselves or any other person from taking part in the prize.

Entrants prevented from taking up the prize for a medical reason will not be compensated in any form for any costs or losses incurred by them in relation to travel or any other expenses incurred in relation to this competition.

Entrants will be required to complete a medical questionnaire before claiming the prize.

Entrants will be required to sign a consent form to undertake the activities required by the LFEPA in respect of the Prize and will be required to follow all instructions in regards to health and safety given by the LFEPA or its staff in regards of the Prize.

Failure to sign the consent form or follow any instruction in regards to health and safety given by LFEPA or its staff will result in the Prize being withdrawn from the winning entrant and another winning entrant selected.

LFEPA will not be liable for any financial losses incurred by a winning entrants failure to sign the consent form or comply with a health and safety instruction or any consequent withdrawal of the Prize.

4. The Prize

The prize is to be ‘rescued’ from a simulated car crash at our Safe in the City event on Saturday 20 August by LFEPA personnel.

The prize cannot be transferred to another person.  The prize cannot be exchanged for cash, tickets or services.

The winning entrant will be required to attend a mandatory training session in London at Hillingdon fire station on Friday 12 August 2016 at 1pm. LFEPA is not responsible for any travel costs incurred for the winning entrant attending this event.

 If you cannot attend this training session the prize may be reallocated to another entrant at LFEPA's sole discretion.

The Safe in the City event will be held on 20 August 2016 from 11am. The winning entrant must be available, and able, to attend the event in London on this day. LFEPA is not responsible for any travel costs incurred for the winning entrant attending this event.

If you cannot attend the Safe in the City event the prize may be reallocated to another entrant at LFEPA's sole discretion.

5. Promotion, marketing and advertising

By submitting their entries to the LFEPA, winning entrants agree to be filmed, photographed and recorded for promotion, marketing and advertising for the LFEPA.

6. Data privacy

The LFEPA will only ever use personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

We will keep your details secure and will not disclose them to other organisations or third parties (except contractors or suppliers working on our behalf) without your permission unless we are legally required to do so.

7. Rules

The LFEPA reserves the right to cancel or amend this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside its control. In this event, a notice will be posted on the LFB website and Facebook page.

The closing date for competition entries is the Entry Date, the LFEPA reserves the right to amend the Entry date at any time, no entry will be considered if received after the Entry date.

No responsibility will be accepted for entries not received for any reason.

The LFEPA's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
