Brigade triumphs at UK Rescue Challenge 2015

07 August 2015

Our trauma team has won a place to represent the UK at next year's World Rescue Challenge in Brazil after winning at UK Rescue Challenge.

It was a successful weekend all round for our rescue teams who brought home plenty of awards from this year's competition.

The challenge, held at the Fire Service College for the first time, saw teams from around the country put through their paces in a number of demanding scenarios designed to test key skills such as incident command, trauma care and technical rescue.

Other fantastic results included our line rescue team, which maintained their position as the best in the country by completing a clean sweep of all the awards up for grabs.

Also the extrication team put in a great performance to finish sixth, out of a field of 23 teams, which means they will be representing the UK at this year's World Rescue Challenge in Portugal in October.

Assistant Commissioner Tim Cutbill, who was at the challenge to witness the teams in action, congratulated those involved said: "It was a fantastic effort by all three of LFB's rescue teams and the results they achieved are testament to their hard work and dedication.

"We've once again shown why it is the best at what it does and the organisation can be proud of those who took part."
