London firefighter's help out in North Yorkshire

31 December 2015

Our firefighters have been deployed to Selby in North Yorkshire to help with flood waters.

A boat team alongside fire crews from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service will check on the welfare of vulnerable residents and provide public reassurance to an area in the day that has been heavily hit by rain.

London Fire Brigade Assistant Commissioner Peter Cowup said:

“There is a concern for tonight about New Year’s Eve party revellers taking unnecessary risks in the floodwaters. Local firefighters will be visible to deter anyone looking to enter the water and to provide an immediate response to any incidents.

“London Firefighters will have a standby role throughout the night and it is possible that some or all of them will be released tomorrow morning, assuming the weather follows the forecast.”
