Croydon residents invited to public exhibition on new firefighter training centre

21 November 2017

We're inviting local residents and stakeholders to a public exhibition on proposals to redevelop the training centre at Croydon Fire Station. It'll be a chance for residents and stakeholders to see the plans for the centre, ask questions about the proposals, and leave feedback.

Plans for the proposed Croydon training centre can also be viewed online via our dedicated consultation website.

The proposed training centre will be based in the northern part of the current fire station site and will include classrooms and simulation training spaces. Plans also include a six-storey Real Fire Training Venue (RFTV) – which will provide a realistic firefighting training facility in a tall building. The RFTV will incorporate specialist smoke cleaning equipment so there’s no adverse impact on air quality. Training in the RFTV will take place between the hours of 9am and 5.30pm.

Where and when

Croydon Fire Station
90 Old Town

Thursday 23 November - 3pm to 8pm

Saturday 25 November - 10am to 3pm

Opportunity to find out more

The public exhibition will provide local people with the opportunity to find out more about the community benefits of the redevelopment, such as rooms which will be available to book by community groups and an improved frontage on Old Town road.

Enhancing the skills of its firefighters

Our plans for the site are part of its objective to enhance the skills of its firefighters, and provide realistic and modern training in south London. The venue aims to complement the existing training facilities owned by trainer provider Babcock in Beckton in east London, and Park Royal in north west London.
