Confidential or exempt information

We try to give access to as much information about our meetings as possible and to keep confidential reports to an absolute minimum. Meetings involving exempt information are not open to the public.

Confidential information can be:

• information provided on a confidential basis by a government department
• information prohibited by statute or by court order, and
• exempt information (things like personal information, financial and business affairs of people or companies who may have dealings with the Authority, action likely to lead to criminal proceedings, matters relating to industrial relations, consultations and negotiations, and matters relating to legal proceedings).

A description of "exempt information" is set out in Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972, as amended.
