Schools & children

Fire safety for children in schools is vitally important. Take a look at some fire prevention measures, for pupils and teachers alike....

Our aim here is to inform young people about the dangers of fire, crucially how to prevent it, and if the worst was to happen how to escape safely. One way that we can achieve this is through our educational and interactive schools' programme, which is available to all year two and six children in London.

If you would like to arrange a class visit to a fire station or invite a fire crew and fire engine to visit your school, please contact the local Borough team.

Resources for schools and teachers

Topics such as fire safety at home and school, fire and science education, key skills, firework safety, as well as fire safety links with numeracy and literacy, can be found on this external website's page giving curriculum support and resources for school and curriculum links with fire safety.

Visit our online shop for a host of children's gifts and toys. And in our archive photographic shop you'll find contemporary and historical images.

Firefighter JawsStayWise

We've joined with other emergency services and agencies from across the country to support a new website called StayWise which aims to teach young people about safety.

It pulls together educational material from around the UK to provide a comprehensive resource of material for teachers, emergency service staff who work with schools and for communities. Find out more at http://www.staywise.co.uk/.

We also have a poster gallery, designed for all the budding artists out there. Find out if your school has sent in your posters to our gallery.

Our Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Scheme looks to address fire setting behaviour amongst young people aged up to 17 years, with a specialist team offering guidance and advice.
