Think before you park

Parking has been difficult in London for many years. But for the London Fire Brigade it can cause serious problems. If roads are blocked and a fire engine can't get through, time is lost. It could mean the difference between life and death.

There are a few common-sense points to make sure fire crews can get to emergencies as quickly and safely as possible. Please remember them - it could be your home we're trying to get to.

  • Don't park on a fire hydrant, or next to a fire hydrant.
  • Don't park anywhere that obstructs a fire exit.
  • Don't park on an emergency access route.
  • Don't park in front of a barrier. We might need to go through it to get to a fire.
  • When you park, make sure there is enough room for a fire engine to get through.
