Special events

In London most entertainment events require a license. We work with local licensing authorities and with event organisers to make clubs, pubs, sports grounds, concerts etc. safe places with fire safety and prevention measures in place.

There are many places in London where you can have fun and enjoy yourself. London has a vast choice of leisure activities for all types of interest.

If you are concerned about a fire risk which may be a danger to life, please contact your local fire and community safety centre during normal office hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Outside of these hours please call 999.

Help yourself stay safe by using our simple guidance:

  • Be aware of the locations of emergency exits.
  • Listen carefully to any safety advice given.
  • Notify a member of staff if you notice that a fire exit is blocked, or fire doors have been wedged open.

If there is a fire

  • Stay calm.
  • Use the nearest fire alarm call point to raise the alarm.
  • If the fire alarm does not sound don't panic. Read the instructions provided. Operating the alarm will alert staff who will then immediately investigate and arrange for everyone's safe evacuation.
  • If you can, inform a member of staff. They have been trained in how to deal with emergencies.
  • To aid your evacuation listen to any public announcements, they will ensure that you are moved away from any area of immediate danger.
  • Move as quickly as possible. Don't try to pick up valuables or possessions.
  • If necessary call the fire brigade on 999 and clearly state the address of the fire.
  • Do not attempt to fight a fire yourself. Do not put yourself or others at risk. Seek assistance from the staff.
