Fires in stolen vehicles

As a top fire safety measure, you should leave your car locked securely when you park - 1 in 12 stolen vehicles is set on fire. Please help us to prevent this by making sure your car is not stolen.

  • Don't leave keys in the ignition, even for a few seconds.
  • Lock all doors and close all windows when leaving the vehicle. Don't forget the boot, tailgate and sunroof.
  • Fit and use an anti-theft device. Most thieves steal vehicles that don't have one.
  • Don't leave property in the vehicle unless it is out of sight.
  • Tell the police about abandoned vehicles. They are often set on fire when left.
