Crime and disorderLFEPA’s most recent strategy for Crime and Disorder and Drugs misuse covers the period from April 2005 to March 2008. The Crime and Disorder Act (CDA) 1998 provides a legal framework that encourages partnership working to help reduce crime and improve community safety. These key organisations or ‘responsible authorities’ include the police, local and health authorities and fire and rescue authorities. They work together to form borough partnership areas called Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs). We work with 33 London borough partnerships to contribute to strategies that support our aims and objectives in the area of crime prevention. Each borough's crime and disorder reduction strategy is listed below. Our priorities for dealing with fire related crime, drug misuse and antisocial behaviour include arson control, for which we have an Arson Task Force that is targeting London areas with high rates of arson. It also includes education; as well as our campaign to reduce juvenile fire setting, and we have a dedicated team of schools officers helping to education children about the dangers of fire, prevention and detection. We regard crime and disorder as incidents that are classified as deliberate; including deliberate primary and secondary fires, abandoned vehicle fires and malicious false alarms. Our second London Safety Plan outlines our overall priorities and targets in these areas, and though our strategy will be kept under review, we intend to keep a focus on prevention and education.
