Fire awareness with extinguisher training

This course that includes training in the operation of fire extinquishers, is aimed at all staff (particularly new employees) in all workplaces, to help them identify and reduce the risks from fire.

Course overview

The course material and handouts are used in conjunction with current workplace fire safety legislation and guidance. Delegate understanding is not assessed. Training includes the practical use of those fire extinguishers commonly found in the workplace.

Aim

To provide delegates with a greater awareness of the threat posed by fire to people, property and business continuity.

Courses are available throughout the year.

Half-day.

The course is designed for delivery at the customer's venue and is subject to the availability of a suitable area for practical training, and parking facilities for our trainer.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course delegates should:

  • Know their safety duties under the law
  • Be able to recognise the importance of effective evacuation
  • Know how to prevent fire and limit fire spread
  • Be able to identify the requirements of an effective fire action plan 
  • Be able to select and use a range of portable fire extinguishers

Prerequisites

None. Although ideally delegates should have a basic understanding of workplace safety.

  • Fire drills and evacuation training 
  • Fire action plans
  • Portable fire extinguishers

Who should attend?

All staff will benefit from the training, particularly new employees and managers.  It is also valuable for those intending to undertake the London Fire Brigade Fire Warden course, as an extension to their professional development.
