London Fire Brigade

Become a fire cadet

Apply now

Cadets attend a local fire station one evening a week, working alongside Brigade and community volunteers.

If you're between 14 and 17 years old, why not consider becoming a fire cadet?

The programme, which lasts 12 months, enables you to improve you confidence while also learning about:

  • Firefighting techniques
  • Breathing apparatus
  • First aid and casualty care
  • Fire safety in the home and community

You will also have the opportunity to gain a BTEC Level 2 in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community, as well as developing other transferable and practical skills that will help you with future training and employment.

Our cadets get to attend a range of Brigade events throughout the year - see what they've been upto lately on the cadets Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account.

Cadets who complete their first year have the opportunity to apply to return for subsequent years training and development as a graduate cadet.

Read more information about the programme by downloading our leaflet.
