our services
Our servicesWe are governed by legislation and guidance and one law that is particularly important for us is the Fire Services Act 2004. This Act not only requires us to make provision for firefighting purposes but also to promote fire safety, known as community fire safety, and attend road traffic accidents. It also provides express powers to respond to all kinds of other emergencies, from serious flooding to dealing with the aftermath of terrorism. We provide five main services:
We charge for some of these services.
The Home Office set minimum standards that we have to meet in providing some of these services. Our area on fire cover looks at how it is provided in London.
