Working with others

Our emergency planning officers work closely with the other emergency services, the London boroughs and other agencies.

We currently have an officer seconded to the London Resilience Team - a strategic partnership working to make sure London is prepared for major incidents or catastrophes. It embraces all the key organisations and bodies in the capital in both the public and private sectors.

We also have representatives on various groups:

  • London Emergency Services Liaison Panel (LESLP) – chaired by the Met Police, this group is made up of all the emergency services and local authorities to help plan for, and respond to a major incident in London.
  • London Voluntary Aid Societies Emergency Committee - made up of the Salvation Army, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance Brigade and the Woman's Royal Voluntary Service.
  • Mutual Aid Groups – the 33 London boroughs are divided into five mutual aid groups, southwest, southeast, northeast, north and northwest. Each group has a lead borough.
  • London Local Authority Emergency Planning Group – each of the London boroughs are represented here
  • London Resilience – sub-committees and working groups.

Local Authority Gold

Local Authority Gold is where, in a crisis, one Chief Executive would represent all thirty three local London authorities. We provide support for Local Authority Gold, 24 hours a day, seven days a week by operating a ‘gold office'. We inform local authority Chief Executives, Emergency Planning Officers and partner organisations about Local Authority Gold arrangements. The primary tasks of the gold office team are to:

  • Review practical working arrangements for Local Authority Gold
  • Organise and deliver training programmes
  • Liaise with other agencies
  • Inform the boroughs of developments

For further information you can email the emergency planning mailbox or call 020 7587 2937.
