The London Fire Brigade (LFB) museum holds historical data that can be used for research information. We will respond to any enquiries about our collection. We hold some early service records and other details about operational life.
We also have a separate research room where you can come and carry out your own research under the supervision of museum staff.
We can also carry out research for you free of charge. A service record is charged at £5.00 and photocopying is charged at 10p per copy.

The LFB museum holds information on our ex-employees and some staff from organisations that preceded the LFB, some of this dates back to the 1860s.
A film commissioned by the museum can now be viewed by visitors. It shows a series of interviews with 10 former National Fire Service personnel who served in World War II. It is a unique, personal insight into how they were recruited to the Brigade, and what wartime conditions were like. The interviews relate in particular to how fires were tackled during the Blitz, and the other important and varied roles people played.

We have a large collection of books, journals and loose-leaf documents spanning the history of the LFB, from the Great Fire of 1666, the Victorian period, to World War II and up to the 1970s.
The St Florian Collection focuses on fire science, safety and engineering. It contains technical reference books and journals, as well as historical publications and information on UK and overseas fire services.
