New Year honour for London fire officer

London Fire Brigade Deputy Assistant Commissioner Frank Stark has been awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal (QFSM) in the New Year’s Honours list.

The award recognises Frank’s 32 years service with the  London Fire Brigade.

Frank joined the Brigade in 1976 and was first stationed at Ruislip. He has also had spells at Wembley, Park Royal, North Kensington, Chelsea and Hendon fire stations, as well as heading up the Brigade’s health and safety team for a time.

Frank’s long career has seen him progress from firefighter to his present role as Deputy Assistant Commissioner, responsible for nine boroughs and around 30 fire stations in North West London.

Frank, from Ruislip, said he was "surprised and delighted" to be recognised in such a way.

He added: "I'm extremely proud to work for  London Fire Brigade and to be part of the UK's fire and rescue service. Throughout my career I have been very fortunate to have worked with some fantastic people and to have received tremendous support from my family."

London Fire Commissioner Ron Dobson said: "This is a reflection of the tremendous work that Frank has done throughout his career with the London Fire Brigade. I am delighted that Frank’s work has been recognised in this significant way."

The New Year’s Honours list reflects outstanding achievement and service across the community.
