Keeping London safe at the Lord Mayor’s Show

06 November 2008

London Fire Brigade will take part in the Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday 8 November to show how London’s fire and rescue service is protecting the capital.

A Brigade float will carry a map of London and firefighters wearing different fire gear and specialist equipment to demonstrate the range of specialist response provided by the London Fire Brigade today.

The three-mile long procession which starts at the Mansion House will wind through 1.7 miles of streets in the Square Mile to introduce the 681st Lord Mayor of the City of London.

Councillor Brian Coleman AM FRSA, Chairman of London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority said: “The Lord Mayor’s Show is a highly appropriate event for the London Fire Brigade to demonstrate the specialist skills and training being used to protect the capital, and more specifically the City of London from both fires and other emergencies, including the always present threat of terrorism.

“With a potential TV audience of many more Londoners, the procession will also profile the range of career opportunities offered by the London Fire Brigade.”
