A fire engine, decorated with fire safety banners took part in the St Patrick’s Day Parade, and staff wearing sweat-shirts bearing the London Fire Brigade’s community safety campaign message, “Be Safe and Sound” handed out whistles to the thousands of spectators who turned out to enjoy the celebrations.
London Fire Brigade’s Assistant Commissioner for Community Safety Steve Turek said: “This event is a great opportunity to celebrate the contribution made by the Irish Community in London, while promoting the free home fire safety visits available from the London Fire Brigade to the thousands of people who attend.”
The parade started at midday from Hyde Park in Central London and ended at Whitehall.
The 'Be Safe & Sound campaign' drives home the message to fit and maintain smoke alarms.
