Members' code of conduct

The standards of behaviour we expect of our members are clearly set out in our Members' code of conduct. Our members are required to observe the code of conduct whenever they conduct the business of the Authority and/or the office to which they have been elected or appointed and when they act as a representative of the Authority.

The 10 general principles of the code are:

  • Selflessness
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Objectivity
  • Accountability
  • Openness
  • Personal judgement
  • Respect for others
  • Duty to uphold the law
  • Stewardship
  • Leadership

If you feel a member has not conducted their business in an appropriate way, find out how to make a complaint.
