Betty Evans-Jacas was elected as a councillor for the London Borough of Lambeth in 2006 where she is a member of the Children and Young People’s Service Scrutiny Committee. She is also a member of the Corporate Parenting Board and a member of the Black Culture Archives.

She was appointed to the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority in 2006.
