Erith - scrap metal yard fire

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a scrap metal yard in Manor Road, Erith. 

A pile of approximately five tonnes of scrap metal was alight.

The Brigade was called at 0314 and the fire was under control by 0632. Fire crews from Erith, Bexley, Plumstead and Sidcup fire stations attended the scene.

Crews will remain on scene damping down throughout the morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
