Acton - flat fire

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Leythe Road in Acton this afternoon

Part of a flat on the first floor of the building and part of the communal hallway was damaged by fire.

One man was rescued from the property by firefighters but he sadly died later in hospital  A further six people left the building before the Brigade arrived.

The Brigade was called at 1254 and the fire was under control at 1427. Fire crews from Acton, Chiswick, Hammersmith and Park Royal fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
