Four fire engines and twenty firefighters were called to a fire at a disused football club on Claremont Road in Hendon on Saturday 21st April. The building, which is in the process of being demolished, was being used as a squat and around 40 people escaped before firefighters arrived on the scene. One man suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Crews worked hard and managed to contain the fire to a reception area at the front of the building.
The Brigade was called at 2029 and the fire was under control by 2143. Firefighters from Willesden and West Hampstead fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
