Greenford - fire in disused factory

Ten fire engines and around  50 firefighters were called to a fire in a disused factory and office building on Sarsfield Road in Greenford, UB6 tonight. Two aerial appliances were also at the scene.

Around half of the two storey building and its roof were damaged in the fire. Thankfully there were no injuries reported.

Station Manager Matthew Burrows who attended the incident said: “Crews worked extremely hard to get this fire under control and to stop it from spreading. We fought the fire on three sides and in addition to the ten fire engines and 50 firefighters at the scene we used two aerial appliances to help us tackle the blaze. Around 50 people living in homes near to the factory were also evacuated to a safe area as a precaution.”

The Brigade was called at 2356 and the incident was over by 0329 . Fire crews from Northolt, Ruislip, Willesden, Southall, Ealing, Hayes, Park Royal and Acton fire stations attended  incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
