Flat fire in Herne Hill

Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters tackled a fire in a converted house on Deerbrook Road in Herne Hill SE24 this morning.

One person escaped before the Brigade arrived and one person was assisted out of the building by firefighters.

Part of a three room flat on the first floor was damaged by the fire.

The Brigade was called at 1013 and the fire was under control by 1044.

Crews from Brixton and West Norwood fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
