Fire at disused social club in Barking

27 July 2012

Around twenty firefighters and four fire engines were called to a fire at a disused social club on Morrison Road in Barking yesterday evening. Members of the public raised the alarm when they saw smoke coming from inside the building.

The blaze damaged part of the ceiling, so firefighters remained at the scene for several hours to ensure the fire was completely out.

Crews from Barking, Dagenham, Poplar, and Hornchurch fire stations attended the scene. The Brigade was called at 2221 and the fire was under control by 0025.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
