Woman escapes fire above nail shop

A woman escaped a fire in a flat above a nail shop on Mitcham Road, Tooting, SW7 yesterday evening.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to the fire at 2130.

The woman was suffering from minor smoke inhalation and was treated by London Ambulance Service crews at the scene. Part of a flat on the second floor was damaged by the fire.

Fire crews from Wimbledon, Tooting and Mitcham fire stations were at the scene.

The fire was under control by 2257 and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
