Thornton Heath - house fire

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire in a house on Hunter Road, Thornton Heath last night. The fire destroyed the ground floor of the house and part of the first floor was damaged. Three women and two children escaped before firefighters arrived on the scene. All were taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 2236 and the fire was under control by 2311. Firefighters from Norbury and surrounding fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
