Crews called out to fire at pizza factory

19 April 2012

Firefighters from London Fire Brigade were called to reports of a flaming pizza at a food production factory in Harrow in north west London this morning. It is thought that a pizza on a conveyor belt in the factory had caught fire. Around 420 people were evacuated from the factory before fire crews arrived on the scene. A sprinkler system in the building put the fire out. Sprinklers keep people and properties safer and can reduce the cost of repairing fire damage.

Firefighters inspected a pizza oven with a thermal imaging camera to check it was safe before leaving the scene.

The Brigade was called at 0642 and the incident was over by 0728. Two fire engines and ten firefighters from nearby Harrow fire station attended the incident which was on Forward Drive in Kenton, Harrow.
