Fatal fire in Uxbridge

Firefighters were called to a fire affecting a house on Clayton Way in Uxbridge early on Monday morning. Part of the ground floor was damaged in the fire and sadly the body of an elderly woman was found at the scene.

Four fire engines from Southall, Hayes, and Hillingdon fire stations went to the scene with 21 firefighters and officers.

The LFB was called at 0001 and the fire was under control at 0040.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
