Fire crews tackled a house fire on First Avenue in Walthamstow today. A large part of the first floor of the two storey terraced house was damaged in the blaze, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading. A man suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to hospital by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.
Four fire engines from Walthamstow, Leyton, and Woodford fire stations wereat the scene. The Brigade was called at 1149 and the fire was under control at 1316.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
