Firefighters rescue a woman from house fire

A woman was rescued after a fire broke out in a terraced house converted into flats on Handsworth Road in Tottenham, N17 today.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the woman from the first floor via the internal staircase.

The fire damaged part of a ground floor flat.

Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Tottenham fire station were at the scene. The Brigade was called at 1520 and the fire was under control by 1547. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
