Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a five year old girl from a fire in a flat on Fleming Way in Thamesmead yesterday evening. The young girl was treated on the scene by the London Ambulance Service for the effects of smoke inhalation. A woman who escaped before firefighters arrived was also treated for smoke inhalation. The fire caused a small amount of damage to the flat.
Two fire engines and 10 firefighters from Plumstead fire station attended the scene. The Brigade was called at 1846 and the fire was under control at 1913.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
