London Fire Brigade

Lorry fire in Upminster

14 June 2012

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were tackling a lorry fire on Saint Marys Lane in Upminster RM14 this afternoon.

The fire severely damaged the lorry and eight propane gas cylinders were involved.

The Brigade set up a 25 meter hazard zone as a precaution as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

All eight cylinders were cooled and removed by the firefighters.

The Brigade was called at 1449 and the fire was under control by 1643.

Fire crews from Romford, Hornchurch and Holloway fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
