Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters and officers tackled a blaze in a range of industrial units on Advent Way in Upper Edmonton early this morning.
Station Manager John Tovey, who is at the scene, said:
“The fire was affecting a range of single storey industrial units and crews worked really hard to get it under control. As well as 15 fire engines we had two aerial appliances here, which are vehicles similar to cherry pickers, so we could tackle the fire from above as well as from the ground.
“Fortunately the buildings affected are located on an industrial estate and are well away from any residential properties. The industrial estate is also close to the busy North Circular but thankfully the fire didn't affect any major roads in the area.“
The Brigade was called at 0308 and it was declared under control at 0759. Crews from Edmonton, Chingford, Woodford, Walthamstow, Enfield, Homerton, Finchley, Tottenham and other surrounding fire stations are at the scene. Crews are expecting to remain at the scene for some time to dampen down any hot spots and make sure no deep seated pockets of fire remain.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
