Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire in a factory involving a gas cylinder on Knights Road, E16, yesterday afternoon.
An acetylene cylinder was involved in the fire and a temporary hazard zone was set up around the affected area as a precaution, as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. Around 40 people were evacuated from the surrounding area.
Firefighters were still at the scene this morning cooling down the acetylene cylinder.
The Brigade was called at 1340 and the incident was under control by 1756. Crews from Shadwell, Leyton and Silverton stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
