Two fire engines and around ten firefighters were called to a fire in a two storey house on East Road in Stratford, in the early hours of this morning.
Around ten per cent of the building’s ground floor was damaged by fire. Two people were rescued by firefighters via a ladder from the house extension roof. Further eight people left the building before the Brigade arrived. It is believed the fire was accidental and was caused by an overheated extension lead.
The Brigade was called at 0118 and the fire was under control by 0147. Firefighters from Stratford fire station were in attendance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
