Forest Gate - house fire

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire in a terraced house on South Esk Road, Forest Gate during the early hours of this morning.
 
The blaze badly damaged the first floor of the house and part of its roof. The body of an older man was found in a bedroom of the property's first floor.
The Brigade was called at 0230 and the fire was under control by 0339. Crews from East Ham, Stratford and Plaistow fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
