Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters attended a fire in a three storey block of flats on Felsted Road in Canning Town, yesterday evening.
Part of a communal area was damaged by fire. Eight people left the premises before the Brigade arrived and were treated for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 2022 and the fire was under control by 2141. Crews from Plaistow, East Ham and Silvertown stations attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
