Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to flat on Mountfield Road in East Ham this afternoon. The fire damaged part of the first floor flat and there was heavy smoke throughout the property.
A woman and two children were rescued by firefighters via a ladder. They were all suffering from smoke inhalation and were treated by London Ambulance Service.
The Brigade was called at 1344 and the fire was under control by 1425. Fire crews from Stratford, East Ham and Plaistow fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
