Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters attended a fire and explosion at a flat on Brackenfield Close in Upper Clapton, yesterday morning.
The flat was badly damaged by the blaze. A man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Around 20 people were evacuated from surrounding flats as a precaution and moved to a local community centre.
The Brigade was called at 0712 and the fire was under control by 1011. Fire crews from Homerton and Stoke Newington stations were at the scene.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
