Q. Does the museum have service records for firefighters serving in World War II?
No. The museum only has records up until the 1920s. For wartime service records you need to email Records Services using the following email address:

Q. Do I have to book onto a guided tour to visit the museum?
Yes. All visits to the museum are by guided tour only. Once booked, your visit will be led by one of our expert tour guides who can tailor the visit to your requirements, if requested. We are open Monday to Friday, with tours starting at 10.30am or 2pm.

Q. Do I have to visit the museum as part of a group?
No. You can visit as an individual, a family or as part of a group. Our minimum number is one and our maximum is 40.
Q. Does the museum loan out uniforms or artifacts?
The museum only loans objects to accredited museums.
Q. How do I donate an object to the museum?
To donate an object to the museum, please make an offer in writing with a detailed list/description of the object/s you wish to donate. You will then be informed which objects, if any, the museum is able to accept into its collection. You will then be provided with an explanation of our donations policy and be asked to sign a Museum Object Entry Form. Please note that the museum cannot arrange collection of items to be donated.
Q. Do I have to book a tour of the museum to visit the shop?
No. The shop is open Monday - Friday 9.00am–5.00pm. When the museum is busy, the shop may be unavailable for short periods, therefore please telephone in advance to check.
Q. Does the museum shop have a mail order service?
No. All souvenirs can only be bought in the museum shop.
Q. Does the museum provide souvenir t-shirts or patches free of charge?
No. T-shirts and patches can only be bought in the museum shop.
