Educational workshops

School events providing interactive learning for children and young people

Our Education Team visit pupils in Year Two, Year Five and Year Eight to deliver fire safety workshops that teach young people about preventing, detecting and escaping safely from fire in the home.

Basic fire safety messages are introduced during Year Two, with the emphasis on learning through play. In Year Five and Year Eight, learning is reinforced and expanded through activities that look at home fire safety in more detail and on a wider scale.

Each primary school workshop lasts approximately 60 minutes and pupils work in small groups to complete a variety of activities with a focus on audience participation. The secondary school programme can be delivered either at an assembly or in a classroom; the duration can be adapted to suit the requirements of the school.

Before the visit schools are contacted to confirm arrangements and explain, in further detail, how the workshop will operate.

Consideration is given to any additional special needs requirements to ensure the workshop can be adapted to allow every pupil to fully participate in learning.

Our visits are allocated to schools in Greater London that have been identified as being in areas where children and young people may be at greater risk of fire in the home.

Please contact us to find out if your school is eligible for a free workshop.
