London Fire Brigade

Dennis Magirus turntable ladder

Magirus turntable ladders were manufactured in Germany, originally made from wood, and were hand-operated.

The ladders maximum height was 85ft (26m). The first turntable ladders were horse-drawn but towards the end of World War I, many of the ladders were transferred onto motor driven or electric chassis.

The last horse-drawn vehicle in the Brigade was a turntable ladder and was withdrawn from service in 1921.
